Brand Development

Artsplosure is a Raleigh nonprofit that brings art experiences to the public in fun, fresh and unforgettable ways. When Mottis engaged with Artsplosure, the organization was well known and loved for its events, but there was confusion among its audiences about its mission and role in the community.

Mottis conducted qualitative and quantitative research with multiple audiences to reveal a few misunderstandings about the brand.

Specifically, the name Artsplosure had outstanding brand recognition in association with their flagship spring festival event, Artsplosure–The Raleigh Arts Festival. Many didn’t realize that Artsplosure is the organization’s name and that the organization is also responsible for First Night® Raleigh and other events. We used this insight, coupled with input from Artsplosure’s leadership, to craft new brand positioning to clarify the organization’s mission and to support its value.
