Why Purina
stole my heart

Everyone loves a good story, especially when the story hits home.

I’m still thinking about the Purina Better With Pets campaign. My sister-in-law posted about it on her Facebook wall and blog, and I was able to watch the sweet little story about her son and their Newfoundlands. I’m still thinking about the video because it gave me a quick, immediate way to connect with my family that’s 3,000 miles away (and my family’s awesome)!

I’m also still thinking about it because Purina did such an awesome job of storytelling, by letting real families tell their own stories of love and inspiration. Purina could’ve told these families’ stories or talked about how they as a company play such an integral role to families’ happiness, but that wouldn’t have resonated the way these Better With Pets stories have.

Allowing real people to talk about their real experiences with companies and products is the best way to build brands in my book. It allows companies personality to show and people to connect with it. I’m so pleased to see how more companies are doing that, like Kraft and Dove, and the beautiful stories that have come out of recent campaigns.
